Art Life is excited to work with home school families to accommodate your art education needs. We can accommodate working space for up to twelve (12) 3rd-8th grade students and up to ten (10) Kindergarten-2nd grade students at a time. Our home school art classes meet for 6 weeks (1-2x per month) over a 15 week semester or we could custom build a workshop to help teachers illustrate a curriculum block or concept.
This curriculum will illustrate a series of 6 projects and techniques with focus on a fine art element. The class is a brief look at fine art design elements using 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional techniques. week 1: Line is drawn and studied using Matisse and lithography and the printing press.
week 2 Shape a lesson in using shape and pattern/repetition in clay. We will be working on slab hand building techniques
week 3: Value the lightness or darkness of a color...working with watercolor and painting techniques we will create value scales and work off a still life
week 4: Texture: the surface treatment of a work of art, either visual or tactile. We will learn about collage and mixed media.
week 5: Color: the primary hues (blue, yellow, red) will be mixed and we will use paints to create a color wheel and mixed colors. Also a complementary and contrasting color project
week 6 Children’s pick...free work on a technique (clay, printmaking, sculpture, painting) they have been most intrigued by. I will help them develop a project that works within the time.
DETAILS: Meets for 6 classes for 75 minutes per class (must be scheduled and paid for in advance, all 6 classes to be complete within 15 weeks) Minimum of 5 students (Kindergarten and up) needed to fill class. Cost: $90 per student for 6 classes (includes all materials and clay firing fees)
Custom Home School Workshops: Art Life will custom build a workshop project around your teaching block or specific concept. Prices based on project, time needed in studio, and materials cost.
