Kid's love art. They instantly use all their senses to create, construct, deconstruct, imagine, and explore. Thinking in and around art materials creates a climate of thought in children that can not always be found in a academic/traditional school setting. An art studio setting allows for natural problem solving, the exploration for solutions without a lot of right or wrong answers. Studio thinking allows the child to solve a "design problem" with his or her own insight and own conclusions. How will I solve the problem of making this clay project stand up on it's own? How can I make that paint overlap the image without completely hiding it? What tools will I use for the job?
These are hidden thought processes that develop. They happen while having the fun of making art, but they are important to children's esteem and confidence. WE stress that there is no wrong here, not a wrong way to do it, just the way you decide to do it. If i can solve this problem and make that happen....what other amazing things can I do?
